Jai Sri Ram.
Trishanku’s un-natural desire and His ordeals.
Lord Rama is worshiped for his righteousness and the compassion He shows to all the living beings. He is great not because His virtues but because of His greatness the virtues attain to greatness. The case is difference with us. We worship using our sense organs to bestow these virtues to be regarded great. Worshiping His devotees like Hanuman makes our job easy and the efforts fruitful.
Returning to the story of RamayaNa we have reached a stage where
The fable of Trishanku is narrated to Rama, while detailing the story of Vishvamitra, whom Brahma blessed to be a kingly-saint, instead of a Brahman-saint,
Vishvamitra not satisfied with that continued his ascetics preferring journey south of His country. In the meanwhile, King Trishanku

Desiring to go to heaven with mortal body approached Vashishta who rejected that very suggestion. Then that king approached His sons with the same idea.

They too refused and posed questions as to

Trishanku deciding to take another resort took leave of them saying
anyaam gatim gamiSyaami svasti vo astu tapo dhanaaH |
Infuriated by such words, the children of the Royal priest cursed Him to become a heinous man for not following Acharya’s words.
A Purohit means the fore teller of an upcoming good to a family. He or She who disrespects them or their words is liable to be punished. The same thing happened to Trishanku.
When the Lord wanted Namazhwar to be taken to Paramapadam in His mortal form, He was desisted by Azhwar Himself in His Thiruvoimozhi Pasuram 10-07-10. He who desired this was the omnipotent Lord Himself. But Azhwar rejected the same as it goes against the Sastraas. Can an ordinary King desire for it to himself? No.
Subversions of natural or physical laws, howsoever big the authority aspiring for it, is liable to be punished. Trishanku story is an example for the same.
